JOB SUMMARY

In this role, a student will handle various projects and tasks related to continuous improvement in manufacturing processes through analysis and strategic planning. Identify inefficient manufacturing processes and work to eliminate them to increase output and decrease costs.  Analyze workflow to identify problems and/or inefficiencies within the manufacturing process.  Find, implement, and track innovative solutions for identified problems or inefficiencies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze current production procedures, standards, and workflow to identify inefficiencies to increase productivity and decrease costs, including spending time on the production floor analyzing both employee and machinery workflow.
  • Research new technology and suggest new machinery and/or modifications to existing machinery.
  • Support the development and documentation of strategic plans to eliminate identified problems or inefficiencies based on current best practices in the industry.
  • Monitor new or modified production procedures, standards, or workflows, and report success and failure.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing efforts.
  • Maintain and update production documentation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Sophomore College year in Engineering or related discipline required.
  • High GPA (3.1 or higher).
  • Ability to safely navigate near and around heavy machinery and observe equipment operation for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.

 

ASSIGNMENT DURATION

  • Internship 8 – 12 weeks
